The Local Environment Plan (LEP) – Why should you be interested?
The LEP is the going to be the master control planning document for future development in Palerang and will have an influence on the size of blocks here and therefore most likely the population, the nature of the development allowed and it should also be responding to protect the environment and enhance our social and economic prosperity in the area.
It’s early days but better to get in early - Palerang Councillors are currently considering a WORKING DRAFT plan, put together by the Council staff and they will develop a final draft that will be certified by NSW Government and then put out for formal comment and consultation.
Bywong residential areas have been given a zoning called Environmental Living (E4), which has a range of proposed objectives and development controls.
To look at the original working draft LEP, go to our website under the TAB Local issues to Council and look at LEP 2010 folder:
Council is meeting every second and fourth Thursday of the month until they have a draft plan completed.
