Bywong Community Blackboards
Bywong Community Inc erected and owns the chalkboards at the three main entries to the locality - at the Yass River crossing on Macs Reef Road, at the Wyoming Road junction with Bungendore Road, and on Bungendore Road at the top of Smith's Gap,near Lark Hill vineyard. Council approved these locations.
The Community provided these boards for the benefit of the community and is therefore happy that they should be used for information of use to local residents such as announcements by local groups or notices relating to such personal matters as lost animal appeals. These notices, however, may be cleaned off from time to time to make way for Community notices (eg or meetings or activities) which take precedence. The boards are not intended for commercial use, advertising by non-locals, or slogans or canvassing of views which have not been endorsed by Community meetings.
The Community appeals to users not to use "paint chalk" or adhesives, which make the boards hard to clean.
Non-Community notices will be erased or compacted when necessary to make room for Community announcements. Commercial or out-of-locality users are encouraged to use one or more of the three local newspapers or to request advertising space on the Community website.
The old notice board at Harriot Road is a good bet for local "for sale" and "lost and found" notices as it is not cleaned off to make way for Community Notices.
