Bushwalking with the Bywong Community
The Community has organised a number of bushwalks in the local area. We organise them in the cooler weather when walking is more pleasant. The next bushwalk will be in the Autumn. Details will be posted on the website and also on local notice boards.
Our bushwalks are aimed at recreational walkers (not strenuous) and focus on learning about the surrounding accessible walking tracks such as the Greenways, which are off road areas dedicated for public thoroughfare.
The walks last a maximum of three hours (some are much shorter) and all you need to bring is snack food and water and of course a hat and sunscreen.
All ages are welcome so come and join us on this very pleasurable form of exercise!
Enquiries on walks should be directed to Judith Miller on 62369321
Some of the 2006 Bushwalks
The October Bushwalk (pictured below) was along the Molonglo Gorge on Saturday 22 October. Although there was a disappointing turn-out, those who came enjoyed a pleasant walk along the Gorge with a picnic at the end of the walk.
The Big Hole Bushwalk
This was held on Sunday 18 June and 16 adults and children had a good
day for the 2km walk to The Big Hole from the Berlang Rest Area.
The Big Hole lies in the Berlang section of the Duea National Park. Its
near-vertical sides drop about 96 metres and span 50 metres. The Hole
is thought to have been formed by the collapse of sedimentary rock into
a hollow limestone cavern.
