Greenways News and Events
Most recent Greenway - Views Forever
A Greenway to the summit of Millpost Hill was opened in 2004. Commencing near to Majors Close, this new section of Greenway goes to a reserve on Millpost Hill and down to Hogan Drive.
For the very best 360 degree view in the district and a stimulating, but not taxing climb, to the centre of Greenways in our district, a visit to the reserve at Millpost Hill is well worth the effort. Take a round trip from Hogan Drive up to Millpost Hill and follow the Greenway down and then north to Denley Drive and follow the verge back to Hogan Drive
Friends of the Greenways
The Management Committee would like to invite those local residents who are users (or adjacent residents who have an interest in the Greenways) to nominate as Friends of the Greenways.
If you are interested, please contact
The committee's intention is to develop a register of 'Friends of the Greenways' to call on for working bees or fund-raising and/or to register interest with Council to extend the network.
Note: Council has not provided maintenance funds for the Greenways for some time, and the onus is now on the community to support this well-used recreational resource and unique environmental asset.
Extending the Network
Preliminary survey work has started on a Greenways segment in the northern part of Bywong towards Lake George. The next steps are to liaise with both Council,(and educate new Councillors about Greenways) and with the NSW government to see how selected Crown Road reserves in the northern segment might be transferred to Council control. Any residents who would like to become more involved with that effort, please contact Maria Taylor as above.
