BYWONG TRIVIA CHALLENGE 2008
SATURDAY 26 JULY AT 7.30PM
Bywong Community Hall, Birriwa Road
The Bywong Miners team, proud winners of the 2008 Bywong Trivia Challenge, hold the shield and wear their Olympic-style medals (made, we believe, of foil-coated chocolate).
Strong but friendly competition marked the eighth annual competition the Bywong Trivia Challenge shield. Players commented on the atmosphere of friendship and fun which has become a feature of the event.
A number of local teams competed against visitors from other parts of Palerang. Bungendore team XX , which has won several challenges over the years, and a formidable team from Carwoola have been notably stalwart supporters of the event over a number of years.
Last month's event was remarkable for the closeness of the scores. All teams scored well, and in the final countdown previous winners XX were beaten by only half a point. The proud winners were a local scratch team competing as the Bywong Miners.
Warwick Cathro and Diana Dack again conducted the evening, and continue to devote their considerable skills to the event in spite of having moved from the area. The Community is in their debt. The Community also thanks its sponsors and donors - Lambert Winery for their handsome wine prize for the winners, Wagonga Coffee for their upmarket product, D'lish Cafe for sweet-tooth prizes for individual events, the Garlick family for their PA system, committee members and friends who provided a cockle-warming selection of supper soups and Wamboin Hall for lending extra chairs.

Trivia Challenge 2007
Another successful Trivia Challenge evening was held in July with full attendance, a happy atmosphere and an even wider than usual range of soups for supper. Well-known Bungendore team "XX" carried off the honours, their 4th win of the Challenge. The overall high leel of scores speaks well for the mental agility and awareness of our community. Warwich Cathro and Diana Dack, no longer Bywong residents, journeyed from across the border to run the evening.
Lambert Vineyards once again generously donated the major prize of the evening's raffle - Dinner for 2 at their vineyard restaurant and the winning table prize of 8 bottles of wine. Coffee, and the equipment to make it, was provided by Wagonga Coffee. Thanks also go to Wamboin Community Association for providing extra chairs.
Trivia Challenge 2006
Lambert's Vineyards generously agreed to sponsor the 2006 Trivia Night. They supplied a great prize of "Dinner for Two (including wine)" for our evening's raffle together with bottles of wine for each member of the winning table. We appreciate their support. We also appreciate the support of Tony and Judy from Wagonga Coffee who once again generously donated coffee for the evening.
The winning team was KUWNN (Keith Urban's Wedding Night Nerves) who obtained 91 points out of a total of 120. Second was the Eastern Greys from Carwoola and third 2XX from Bungendore.
There were 9 tables which was very nearly the capacity of the Hall with contesting teams from local residents, Carwoola, Bungendore, Wamboin and even Canberra.
The winner of the raffle was from the Shelley Blakley team and congratulation to him and his partner.
Here are photos of some of the tables with the winning team's representative, Theresa Hackett, receiving the Shield from Warwick Cathro, President, Bywong Association. The winning team is second from the left on the top row.
Each year we hold a Trivia Challenge evening when more than 80 residents vie for the Trivia Shield on the last Saturday of July.
We invite assocations from nearby localities and local residents to organise tables of 6-8 to compete for the Trivia Shield.
The evening is one of fun and merriment and any funds raised go towards donations that we give to the area annually. The entry fee is $10 per person and we supply a supper of soup and rolls with tea/coffee to end the evening.
